About us

LLASA is built on experience, integrity, and passion for helping businesses stay compliant and protected. This is our story.

Our History

Explore our journey from humble beginnings to a leading force in workplace legal compliance.

Humble Beginnings with a Bold Vision

Our journey began in 2009 when Mildrid Ellis, after parting ways with the NOSMESA Employers Organisation, founded an independent labour law consulting firm in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Her vision was simple yet powerful: to provide expert legal guidance at rates affordable enough for every business, regardless of size. The firm, originally named Arbeid Pro Labour South Africa, was built on the principle that quality labour law services should be accessible to all South African employers.

Early Growth and Lasting Trust

Starting with a focus on labour relations, our firm quickly expanded into employment equity and B-BBEE consulting to meet rising client demand. While many of our early clients were small businesses and farms, large corporations soon joined our growing client base, drawn by Mildrid’s professionalism, experience, and proven expertise. Many of those clients remain with us to this day — a testament to the trust and long-term value we provide. In 2024, we rebranded as The Labour Law Association South Africa, trading as LLASA, to better reflect the scope of our services and the trusted role we play in workplace compliance.

Expansion Across Industries and Provinces

Over the years, LLASA evolved into a national labour law consultancy, delivering services across every province and all sectors. As our service offerings expanded to include occupational health and safety (OHS), payroll administration, skills development, and POPI Act compliance, so did our reach. Our team now works with businesses ranging from small enterprises to large multi-entity organisations, offering scalable and practical legal solutions. To date, we have successfully assisted over 2,000 employers across South Africa in more than 200 cities and towns.

The Shift to Digital Delivery

The “COVID-era” accelerated a defining moment in our journey: the transition to online and remote legal support. This shift allowed us to serve more clients in less time, eliminating unnecessary delays and travel. Today, employers can access expert assistance — from hearings to consultations — within hours, not days. This innovation has redefined how labour law services are delivered and made our firm more efficient, responsive, and client-focused.

Leadership and Strategic Partnerships

Now led by Quintin Liebenberg (CEO), Mildrid Ellis (Director), and Willem Olivier (Head of Compliance), LLASA combines deep legal expertise with strategic business insight. Over the years, we’ve built strong affiliations with respected bodies such as the AHI Employers Organisation, SASLAW, SABPP, SAIOSH, and Klipboard/Premium Pay, a partner of the Payroll Authors Group of South Africa. These partnerships further strengthen our ability to serve employers at the highest level.

Our Commitment

We are defined not by what we say but what we do. Here is what you can expect from our commitment towards you.

What we stand for:

  • Integrity
  • Empowerment
